At times like these, a fruitful future may seem a distant dream. Fear looms. Cynicism soars.

But that’s only part of the story. All around us people are turning tragedies into unlikely friendships.

Abraham Path Initiative (API) is one of those game-changers. Through the simple act of walking we encourage new connections, transforming preconceived notions of a hostile “Middle East” into an experience of the region’s abiding hospitality.

API’s founder, world-renowned mediator William Ury, has walked in the Palestinian countryside. “The whole purpose of the Path is to connect the dots of history, of cultural heritage and the wholeness of humanity,” he says.

A contribution to the Abraham Path Initiative is an investment in community-based travel, experiential courses, economic development, and transforming perceptions, one footstep at a time.

Your funds will support our efforts to:

  • Generate jobs in Palestine’s growing tourism sector
  • Provide training for guides and homestay hosts, along with business insights for women’s centers
  • Lead environmental sustainability courses for youth in schools in refugee communities
  • Expand our Fellows program, empowering storytellers devoted to cultural heritage preservation

Help us promote walking in Southwest Asia to international travelers that will foster new friendships across challenging divides.

The Abraham Path Initiative (API) is an international nonprofit (non-sectarian and non-political) that invests with local partners to achieve shared goals for a fruitful future. We have seeded local walking trails for over a decade, stimulating improvement, extension, and news of these trails to bolster a growing tourism sector that brings jobs and income to rural families and communities. The simple act of walking connects people. And their shared stories will weave a tapestry of appreciation that transcends preconceptions.
